Prom and wedding season are right around the corner, so I wanted to take a minute to talk a little about the airbrush tanning I offer at the salon.
What is the difference between a custom airbrush tan and tanning in a spray tan booth? An airbrush tan is different from a spray tan in that it is actually applied by a professional. A spray tan is typically in a booth. I have found you get a much more even result from an airbrush tan as it is custom to your color and body.
How to get the most out of my airbrush tan? An airbrush tan typically lasts one-two weeks depending on a number of variables: the amount you exfoliate, if you’re exposed to chlorine, very hard water, and mineral oils. The amount of time your spray tan will last is also contingent on how often you moisturize your skin. I recommend my clients find a mild moisturizer that is free of mineral oils to keep their spray tan as long as possible.
Why would I get an airbrush tan? Airbrush tanning is great for special events or vacations. I always recommend them for photo shoots or if you’re just looking for a little extra color as the weather continues to get nice.
What do I need to do to prepare for my airbrush tan? Before your spray tan appointment, you’ll want to shower, exfoliate, and moisturize. I recommend wearing dark loose clothing. It’s also nice to get a spray tan closer to the end of the day. The solution takes approximately eight hours to set in before you can wash off, so getting your tan at the end of the day can help you avoid feeling sticky throughout your eight hour waiting period. You’re welcome to wear whatever is comfortable during the tan. Some clients wear swimsuits or strapless undergarments to prevent lines. That is something we can also discuss when booking your appointment.
What will an airbrush tan cost? At Salon 30 I offer single spray tans for $20 or two for $30. I also have punch cards available if you’re interested in purchasing five spray tans up front. You get the sixth free.
I hope this was helpful information for anyone interested in airbrush tanning. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions about your next airbrush tan.
Always here for your hair (and tan), Lauren
